Don't Miss Vintage for Morgon's Master:
2014 Foillard Morgon Corcelette

Posted by Joe Salamone

We've been waiting to get our hands on Foillard's 2014s for a long time.

Our thoughts turned to Foillard the moment it became clear that 2014 Beaujolais was a great vintage. For decades, Foillard has turned out some of the best Beaujolais around.

We knew that 2014 Foillard was a vintage to go deep on.

Foillard's Côte du Py has long served as his flagship, but since acquiring Corcelette not so long ago, the wine has served as the perfect counterpoint to the Côte du Py.

Côte du Py is about a certain deep meatiness and richness; Corcelette is about feminine grace and aromatics that jump from the glass. The soil goes a long way in helping to explain the difference between the two sites. Whereas Côte du Py is composed of granite and schist, Corcelette has very sandy granite soils that produce more aromatic, silkier wines. Foillard's vines here are over 80 years old.

2014 Beaujolais shows incredible impact with a radiant clarity and perfect sense of vivacity. The total package is supremely and deliciously compelling. It's been a very long time since we've seen a Beaujolais vintage with so much depth, texture and drinkability.

The combination of power, concentration and verve in 2014 created an absolutely gorgeous Corcelette. It's floral, silky and possesses a firm streak of minerality. The combination of punch with delicacy and elegance is captivating.

All of our 2014 Beaujolais offers have been met with huge responses. Given Foillard's reputation, we expect this to disappear quickly.
