About This Wine

Fritz Haag is one of the greatest estates of the post-war period. While 1970 is a vintage no one discusses (Stephen Brook's 2003 book, elaborately titled "The Wines of Germany," writes only: "A large crop in the Mosel; better wines in the Mosel than in the Saar and Ruwer"), I have to say, personally, I have really enjoyed a number of 1970ers I've had, including some from this collection. They are lithe and lively, simple and shorter perhaps, but many are still shockingly clear and energetic. I have the suspicion that this is a supeb wine and at $250 it is a steal as these wines are trading at $400+ at auction.
