About This Wine

The Brosch family has run this small estate in Osann-Monzel since 1530. The modern winery unfortunately doesn't look so interesting - lots of crossings that have been bred to be easier to farm than Riesling; varieties such as Ortega, Optima, Bacchus etc, seem dominant. There are also quite a few bottles labeled with the Grosslage name (Bernkasteler Kurfurstlay), which doesn't exactly inspire much confidence. Nevertheless, this bottle is from the awesome 1975 vintage and it was bottled as the single-vineyard it really is, not (yet) indulging in the bullshit Grosslage descriptors. We couldn't find the photograph we took but we wrote in checking the bottle in: "All in all looks good." As we'd rather you are wildly happy at getting more wine than you paid then overpaying for a mediocre bottle, we are pricing this at less than current-vintage Kabinetts from top producers.
