About This Wine

In 2005, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet founded Bachelet-Monnot. In no time their wines were turning the heads of even the most seasoned Burgundy tasters. These are revelatory expressions of Burgundy. The amount of finesse and luminous mineral precision that they are able to tease out is astonishing.

For many years this was one of the emerging star domaines of Burgundy. The 2019 vintage marks a breakout vintage for Bachelet-Monnot. As great as the wines have been recently, they reached a different level in 2019. The more we've tasted of the 2019 whites the more obvious it's become that this is an important vintage. Even in the context of the vintage, Bachelet-Monnot's collection is great.

While there are many places to witness how huge Bachelet-Monnot's success was in 2019, I consider the Puligny to be the strongest of the line-up. Their 2019 Puligny is such a brilliant bottle of wine that it was an easy pick for my wine of the year. I base the selection on three things: how much it punches above its weight class, the value that it offers, and the sheer quality of the winemaking.
