Punching Above Its Weight Class
2021 Bachelet-Monnot Chassagne-Montrachet

Posted by Ian McFadden

Bachelet-Monnot's Chassagne AC is a bottle that we reach for often.

The 2021 is an especially thrilling vintage of the wine. As Burghound's note below highlights, the 2021 is a seriously structured example of the wine. It is also a tense and electric one.

Restricted yields make the 2021 especially intense. However, the concentration is married to an incredible amount of focus and precision. All of this makes the 2021 punch well above its weight class.

In 2005, brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet founded Bachelet-Monnot. In no time their wines were turning the heads of even the most seasoned Burgundy tasters.

With each vintage, Bachelet-Monnot seems to go from strength to strength. The 2021 Chassagne AC really dramatizes this. This simply an amazing expression of village level Chassagne.

Burghound:

"Pungent aromas of resin, petrol and reduction precede bigger-bodied and solidly concentrated flavors that deliver better depth and length on the equally rustic finale that is sufficiently structured to suggest that 5 to 8 years of keeping should be beneficial."
