An 11th Century Clos - 50 Cases Made: 2017 Roches Neuves Saumur Blanc Clos Romans

Clos Romans stands as one of the great expressions of Chenin. Clos Romans is one of the most important wines of the Loire. Many tasters compare it to Corton-Charlemagne. That helps convey the amount of regal complexity and soaring tension that it offers. Along with the Memoires Rouge, the Clos Romans Blanc represents the top of Roches Neuves' range.

The Master of Chinon
2015 Baudry Chinon La Croix Boissée

Baudry is one of my favorite producers. Baudry's style is beautifully detailed, vividly transparent and refined. Croix Boissée is Baudry's top bottling and epitomizes what makes Baudry's wines so special.

2017 Pascal Cotat Chavignol Rosé

Pascal Cotat's Rosé occupies a very special place. Few, if any rosés, age better or with more elegance. We've had bottles with 10 and even 20 years of age that have blown us away. The 2002 is a legendary bottle around here.

Clos Rougeard 1993-2012

Simply put, Clos Rougeard is Loire royalty.

Loire Elite
2017 Roches Neuves Saumur Blanc Clos de l’Échelier

Clos de l’Echelier is a 1.8ha clos (a walled vineyard) that has hard limestone soils. The majority of the clos is planted with Cabernet Franc. The very small amount of Chenin comes from sixty-year-old vines and in a typical vintage, the total production is just two oval casks - somewhere around 1,200 bottles.

A Monument From The Damned Mountain:
2016 François Cotat Sancerre Les Monts Damnés

François Cotat's Sancerres are singular in their tactile grandeur and incredible longevity. This goes a long way in explaining why when you check out the best wine lists or carefully selected cellars, you're almost certain to find François Cotat's wines.

Loire Rarity:
2016 Pascal Cotat Chavignol Rosé

For us, there's nothing like Pascal Cotat's Rosé. It is one of the most ageworthy and compelling rosés in existence. When it comes to fascination and deliciousness, Cotat's Rosé is hard to beat.

Loire Icon
2016 François Cotat
Sancerre Les Culs de Beaujeu

For decades, Cotat's Sancerres have stood as the pinnacle of the appellation. Taste bottles of François Cotat with a healthy amount of time in the cellar and their importance only becomes more clear. Beyond Sancerre, they are simply great examples of mineral-drenched and slow-to-unfold regal wines.

Singular Loire
2016 Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Clos de l'Echelier

Loire Elite: Old and Ungrafted Vines
- 2016 Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny: Franc de Pied & Les Mémoires

Thierry Germain and his Roches Neuves firmly holds a place among the Loire's elite. The past few vintages testify to the fact that he is at the top of his game. Today, we're excited to offer two of his top Cabernet Franc's from 2016, Franc de Pied and Les Mémoires.

2016 Pascal Cotat Chavignol Rosé

Allocations of Pascal Cotat's Rosé are typically handed out in 6-12 bottle quantities. It feels like a lucky break each time we get to offer it.

Rare, Revelatory Loire
2015 Bernaudeau Vin de France Les Onglés

Few Loire producers have jumped to the top of people's lists as quickly as Bernaudeau. When you taste the wines, it's very easy to understand why. They are some of the purest and most energetic expressions of Chenin that you'll find.

"Great purity, finesse and elegance" -
2014 Clau de Nell Anjou Cabernet Franc

There are some vintages that seem to have it all. 2014 in the Loire comes dangerously close to reaching this status. The wines are so complete - there's serious depth of concentration, vibrant finesse and terroir-accented verve.

Loire Royalty - Electric and Multifaceted:
2016 Huet Le Mont Demi-Sec

Huet is one of France's most historic and iconic domaines.

100 Year-Old Vines - 0.7ha:
2013 Roches Neuves Les Mémoires

Over the past few vintages, it's become clear that things have clicked into high gear at Roches Neuves.

The King of Chavignol:
2015 Francois Cotat La Grande Côte

When it comes to Sancerre, Cotat's village of Chavignol is a special place. And La Grande Côte is king.

Ruthlessly Mineral - 0.8ha:
2015 Baudry Chinon La Croix Boissée Blanc

Baudry's Croix Boissée Blanc is one of the most fascinating expressions of Chenin around.

Subtle Complexity, Supreme Refreshment:
2015 François Cotat Sancerre Les Caillottes

François Cotat is know for his lavish, complex expressions of Sancerre. His Caillottes works on an entirely different wavelength.

Back Up The Truck: Vouvray Edition -
2014 François Pinon Vouvray Les Déronnières

By now, it’s clear that 2014 was one of the best vintages for the Loire of the past decade.

The Damned Mountain:
2015 Gérard Boulay Sancerre Monts Damnés

Gérard Boulay's Sancerres are some of my favorite expressions of the appellation. The Boulay family has held land in Sancerre for over 600 years. Along with Vatan and the Cotat cousins, Boulay produces some of the most elegant, complex and long-lived Sancerre.

Hitting A High-Water Mark:
2014 Chateau du Hureau Saumur-Champigny Lisagathe

Lisagathe is Hureau's top wine. And in 2014, it's stunning.

The Chambolle of the Loire:
2015 Roches Neuves Saumur-Champigny Clos de l'Echelier

It's rare that people compare a Cab Franc to Chambolle, but that's how people talk about l'Echelier.

Without Artifice, Loire Value:
2014 Chateau du Hureau Saumur-Champigny
Fours à Chaux

We've written many times about how good 2014 was in the Loire. Today's offer highlights how the vintage elevated wines to seldom seen heights.
