1982 Vietti Barolo
Rocche, Villero Riserva,
Bussia & Briacca

We're always on the hunt for aged Barolos and only very rarely do we strike gold.

Today, is one of those rare moments.

We're happy to offer a small parcel of Vietti's single vineyard Barolos from the stunning 1982 vintage.

We should mention from the outset that this is very limited. We're only sending this offer to a small group of Piedmont supporters, but this will likely sell out.

The easiest way to underscore the rarity here is to mention that these are the only bottles available in the U.S.

The 1982 vintage stands tall, along with 89, as the best vintage of the decade. The vintage is defined by its elegance, by its suave textures and by its beautiful aromatics.

Vietti's 82s are very strong, and have really started to hit their stride. There's no getting around the fact that Barolo needs age. With time in the cellar, magic happens: the tannins soften, complex perfumes are unleashed and Barolo's inherit breeding and finesse start to emerge front and center. This is what Vietti's 82s are beginning to offer up.

To run through the vineyards very quickly: Briacca is known for its fineness and its suave textural element. The site seems to have really found a perfect partner in the 82 vintage. Think of it as the Volnay of Barolo. Bussia offers plenty of power and complexity. Both Rocche and Villero are muscular distance runners combining intensity and nuanced complexity.

As I mentioned at the beginning, this is one of those rare parcels that pops up and then disappears almost as quickly.
