"An absolutely gorgeous wine that has it all." -Burghound

Leflaive hardly needs an introduction; the estate is near the top of the short list of Burgundy's greatest white-wine producers, right there with Coche-Dury, Lafon, Roulot, Ramonet.

As we've said before, 1,000 times or so, back-vintage Burgundy is getting harder and harder to find - so when we come across a parcel that has been cellared perfectly and is ridiculously priced, well... it's a good day.

Having tasted this wine recently, it is so clear that the 2001s at chez Leflaive are far outperforming all expectations. This is one of the most delicious vintages of young Leflaive Chevalier and it is just beginning to round into form.

Could we put it any better than the Burghound? Probably not - in any event he's penned quite a poem to this wine: "Incredibly fine, mineral-suffused and mildly tropical fruit aromas that evidences a pronounced chalk and stone quality lead to dense, fine, rich, delineated, powerful, elegant and superbly focused middle weight flavors that deliver outstanding complexity on the stunningly long backend, all the while displaying dazzling purity. An absolutely gorgeous wine that has it all."
