Roumier's very limited wines are snatched up by rabid Burgundy buyers before they even hit shelves, making it nearly impossible to find wines in any quantity. Outside of his Musigny, Roumier's Bourgogne Rouge is likely his rarest bottling.
Anything that Roumier touches is elevated. In every vintage, Roumier's Bourgogne far transcends its humble appellation. However, in 2005 the wine is just a knock-out.
It probably doesn't require mentioning, but 2005 is a legendary vintage. Almost a decade later, everything still seems so young, including top Bourgogne Rouge.
There are very few producers that really get seasoned Burgundy buyers excited - Mugneret-Gibourg, d'Angerville, Chevillon and of course, Roumier. Even in this formidable company, Roumier stands out for the level of concentration and precision that it offers.
