The 2008 Conternos come to the table with considerable expectations. At a recent dinner in NYC with Roberto Conterno, he confided that the 2008 vintage presents some of the finest wines he has ever made. Which, with a winemaker like Conterno, is really, really saying something.
The 2008 vintage in the Piedmont presents the "finer" side of Barolo - which is to say the hallmarks are purity, freshness, detail. As Antonio Galloni states in his vintage review: "The 2008s are gorgeous Baroli with expressive aromatics and tons of length... this is a super-classic vintage that will thrill readers who like vibrant, refined Baroli."
