2010 Henri Bonneau
Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Célestins
The Châteauneufs of Henri Bonneau exist in their own realm.
In vintages like 2010, they reach levels that flirt with mythical status. This is especially true of Célestins.
We're happy to offer Bonneau's 2010 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Célestins for $359.95 per bottle.
Bonneau's wines are unyieldingly traditional and endlessly captivating. They possess an extra dimension -- a mysterious, soulful essence that’s impossible to pin down.
In 2010, you have power and concentration married to elegance, ripeness allied with brightness and agility. The key is the energy, the acidity... the verve. Bonneau’s Célestins exemplifies the best of the vintage, balancing intensity with refinement, concentration with clarity.
The 2010 Célestins is thrilling. It delivers an explosive spectrum of vivid dark fruits, game, earth, spices and herbs, all wrapped around a sturdy iron and mineral core. There’s a wild, savage power married to vibrancy and brightness. The harmoniousness of the vintage is expressed beautifully here.
Bonneau is an uncompromising traditionalist. Célestins' life in the cellar is amazing. While Bonneau’s Célestins is always impressive in its raw power and regal elegance, in 2010 it is truly epic.
Bonneau is the revered old wise man of Châteauneuf. Anytime that I have the opportunity to drink one of Bonneau's wines I get very excited. Sadly, I don't get to drink them enough. His wines are always in short supply. When it comes to 2010 Célestins, the wine will disappear from the market quickly. Don't miss.

Jeb Dunnuck for The Wine Advocate: "Schedule to be bottled next week (I suspect it will be in bottle by the time you read this), the 2010 Châteauneuf du Pape Reserve des Celestins is a sensational effort. Deeper, richer and more concentrated than the Marie Beurrier, it reveals an unusually inky ruby/purple color to go with overflowing notes of kirsch liqueur, roasted meats, crushed flowers, garrigue and just about every other Provençal spice you could name. Full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, layered and a blockbuster-styled effort, it should surpass the 2007 and possibly rival the 1990. This is a tour de force in Châteauneuf du Pape!"
