2015 Angerville Volnay 1er Cru:
Taillepieds & Clos des Ducs

Posted by Ian McFadden

Simply put, d'Angerville's 2015s are epic.

By now, this isn't shocking news to many of you. Word has been out about the 2015s for some time.

I couldn't resist offering d'Angerville's top two 2015s, the Taillepieds and Clos des Ducs. I should warn you from the outset that both wines are extremely limited. This is certainly the sort of offer that I could only send out on a Friday in June.

To jump straight to the wines, Taillepieds is one of the d'Angerville bottlings that people get obsessed with. There's a group of people who hold Taillepieds even more dear than Ducs. Taillepieds is all about raciness - it's full of stony minerality with an intricate depth. In 2015, the Taillepieds has a brilliance of minerality and punchy length that's stunning.

D’Angerville’s 2.4-hectare monopole, Clos des Ducs, is one of Volnay’s best sites. The steep and chalky Clos des Ducs produces wines of singular intensity and breeding. It has no trouble competing with Grand Crus. As you would expect, the 2015 Ducs is one for the ages. There's power and lift along with utter refinement and a multi-dimensional complexity.

There's not much more that needs to be said. I'll end with a reminder that quantities are extremely limited. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try or best.
