Last week, we opened a bottle of J'en Veux Encore. It disappeared in a matter of minutes.
The staff is rarely so enthusiastic about a wine.
Of course, this isn't entirely surprising. Ganevat is famous for making breathtaking and game-changing wines. He's also well known for the very minuscule quantities that he produces. I should mention from the outset that this is very limited.
The 2017 J'en Veux Encore is a blend of red and white grapes, 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Pinot Gris. It's an extremely fascinating wine full of energy, floral tones, and subtle yet wild complexity.
J'en Veux Encore is part of the Anne & Jean-François Ganevat negociant line that Jean-François formed with his sister in 2013 to cope with a series of vintages with devastatingly low yields. All of the growers Gavenvat works with share his farming philosophy, some are even Gavenvat’s former employees.
Ganevat produces a domaine bottling named J'en Veux that's made from a blend of 18 different red and white indigenous (and very obscure) Jura varieties. It immediately became a cult bottling for its intriguing lightness and its refreshing drinkability. J'en Veux Encore is very similar. There's a brilliance to the wine's clarity of expression, balance, and sheer joyfulness.
As I mentioned above, J'en Veux Encore is very limited. It's typically a bottle that gets allocated in 6-12 bottle quantities. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
