What Müller does with Scharzhofberg is magical.

He renders the site beautifully clear, with a steely finesse and indisputable nobility. The wines transcend Riesling and assume a place among the greatest wines anywhere.

Egon Müller's 2017s are blazingly pure and elegant. They have an unbelievable mineral cut and really serious concentration.

Scharzhofberg and Egon Müller is one of the great marriages in all of wine. Scharzhofberg is an incredible site. Unlike many of Germany's top sites where potential ripeness is an important part of the equation, Scharzhofberg works on a different logic. The site produces wines with relatively low oechsle (ripeness) levels.

The 2017 Spätlese is absolutely brilliant. It has an extraordinary finesse, cool-toned clarity, and mindboggling length. If we had to single out the standout of Müller's 2017 lineup, it would be the Spätlese.

Egon Müller simply makes some of the most riveting wines on the planet. The 2017 Scharzhofberger Spätlese drives this home in a profound way. It's unfortunate, but we have a very limited quantity available and it's very likely that we'll need to allocate.
