For me, it's the Côte de Nuits where I think the greatest value is. Year after year, this is one of my go-to bottles.
Typically, Côte de Nuits can be characterful, but also rugged and rustic. Bachelet takes the appellation to a nearly unimaginable level of textural elegance and ageability. The 2018 Côte de Nuits - Villages boldly flaunts these characteristics.

Bachelet produced gorgeous 2018s. As quoted in Burghound, Denis Bachelet gets to the essence of the collection when he says: "I like them quite a bit as they're generous and rich but not at the expense of the underlying terroir."
The 2018 Côte de Nuits has plenty of power and verve with a stony minerality that courses through it. The wine has a deep structure; and complexity with soil tones, spice, and lifted notes of smoke and red fruits. It has serious freshness and length. Vinous Media's Neal Martin captures this overachieving wine well when he writes that it has "a finish worthy of a premier cru."
The tragedy of this is that Bachelet only has 0.37ha of vines in the Côte de Nuits appellation. We can simply never find enough. With the pricing and limited quantity, I don't expect this to stick around for long.
