2018 Roulot Auxey-Duresses Blanc

Posted by Ian McFadden

This is the first time that we've been able to offer Roulot's Auxey-Duresses.

I'm very excited to offer Roulot's 2018 Auxey-Duresses Blanc.

It's a bottle that I make an effort to buy every vintage. Recently, we opened a bottle of 2014 and it was a potent reminder of how much this bottle brings to the table.

Jean-Marc Roulot is simply one of the greatest producers of white wine on the planet. The calling cards of Roulot are incredible precision, length, and harmony with a cutting mineral elegance.

All of this is on bold display in his Auxey-Duresses. Generally speaking, Auxey turns out very mineral wines with a slightly rustic edge. The best examples can be totally stunning. As you can imagine, Roulot exploits Auxey's minerality to the max and the results are indeed stunning.

Roulot produced great 2018s. Word on the street is that they are some of the best whites of the vintage, with a combination of snap and mineral-laden generosity. The 2018 Auxey-Duresses really dramatizes Roulot's success in this vintage.

Before closing, I should state the obvious and warn you that quantities are very limited. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.

Burghound: "A discreet application of wood is present on the essence of white orchard fruit, lemon rind and soft petrol wisps. The racy and impressively intense medium weight flavors evidence ample minerality that is particularly prominent on the long and delicious if slightly rustic finale."
