"A very fine Meursault villages" - Burghound
After decades of crafting some of the greatest white Burgundies, Dominique Lafon may be making the best wines of his illustrious career. It has been amazing to watch.
The wines have never had more clarity and finesse. The 2019s are dramatic examples of this.
Today, I'm happy to offer his 2019 Meursault "Narvaux" at $129.95 a bottle and $124.95 in 4-packs.
The Dominique Lafon label was created in 2008 to allow Dominique greater freedom than he felt he had at the family domaine, Comtes Lafon. It mainly utilizes 4.5ha of owned or leased vineyards. The wines of the Dominique Lafon label really amplify the stylistic change towards more tension and sleek elegance that can be seen in the Comtes Lafon wines. The wines have a shorter elevage and are largely sourced from cooler, upper sections of the vineyards.
The Meursault "Narvaux" is consistently one of our favorites of the line-up. The 2019 is stunning. The "Narvaux" is a wine with kenetic energy. It has incredible drive and precision along with plenty of punch. The class and penetrating minerality that it offers is completely thrilling.
The 2019 "Narvaux" highlights so much of what makes Lafon one of our favorite producers of white Burgundy. This is a bottle that shows Lafon at the height of his powers.
