For nearly the past decade, Oddero has been in the zone.
Even in this context, we were impressed when we recently tasted through their 2020s. Oddero produced some of the best Barolos of the vintage. Rocche was the highlight of the tasting.
Rocche is one of the top crus of Barolo. In Rocche, you find a gorgeous balance between the more muscular Barolos of Monforte and Serralunga and the more perfumed and lacy examples from La Morra. Rocche leads with beautifully complex floral, red fruit, and spice notes, backed by a firm edge of raw tannin. Above all, Rocche is about aromatics and class.
Oddero's 2020 Rocche dazzles. The wine explodes with finely delineated aromatics and has tremendous finesse and lift on the palate. It offers loads of textural appeal with floral and spice inflections.
Oddero is making some of the most compelling wines in all of Piedmont. The 2020 Rocche shows them at the height of their power.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2020 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a beautifully seductive wine. Effusive, aromatic and light on its feet, the 2020 graces the palate with hints of crushed flowers, spice, mint, pipe tobacco and orange peel. Fine, silky tannins wrap it all together. This, too, needs time."
