"A brilliant vintage of Kirchspiel GG."
-John Gilman
2013 Keller Kirchspiel GG
Everyone who has tasted Keller's 2013 Grosses Gewächs speaks of them with awe.
By all accounts, this is a brilliant, riveting collection.
They are very finely etched and ultra-mineral. The combination of incisive stoniness, sleek finesse and overall completeness is stunning. All of this adds up to one of the most successful and blazingly mineral editions of Kirchspiel we've seen.
The quantities of Keller's Grosses Gewächs grow more painful each year. A quick sell out is very likely.
The Rheinhessen was one of the most successful regions in 2013. It suffered much less severe rains and other issues than areas to the north. The wines have a beautiful drive, clarity and depth of minerality. It's really a lovely combination.
Keller's Kirschspiel can be summed up in one word: mineral. It's razor sharp, with a form that is so agile and seamless. Beautiful high-toned fruit (lemon, lime zest), astounding clarity (you can smell the limestone) and incredible grip.
Keller's dry Rieslings are some of the most statuesque, graceful and haunting white wines you will ever have. Weingut Keller has, in just over a decade, become one of the country's greatest addresses. With all this has come continuingly dwindling quantities.
I'm going to cut this short. We all know the level that Keller works on. For Keller fans, 2013 is a don't miss.
