These are big words.

Drouhin's 1er Cru Clos des Mouches Blanc has been an insider's secret for many years. And amongst those circles, it is simply legendary. Its track record is very, very impressive.

Even in the context of the greatest Beaune whites, Clos des Mouches exists on its own rarefied plane in terms of class and longevity. It's a special wine - a perennial over-achiever, one of the cult whites of Burgundy.

In the 2010 vintage, Drouhin's Clos des Mouches comes dangerously close to reaching its pinnacle. It combines tension with layered opulence and almost painful concentration.

The natural stylistic comparison is to the finest Meursault (and we're talking top dogs here: Lafon, Colin-Morey, Roulot, to name a few). There is a similar weight and nuanced depth here, a thrust with which the wine unfurls itself across the palate.

But there's also something a bit sexier going on, something a bit more honey-laden and a bit more floral and succulent. Clos des Mouches Blanc is just a gorgeous wine, seductive in its complexity and richness and thrilling in its detail.

At heavy hitting wine dinners, with serious collectors, the excitement is palpable whenever an aged bottle of Clos des Mouches gets placed on the table.

It's just that good.

It's also one of the best white Burgundy values that we know of. Today, we're happy to offer Drouhin's 2010 Clos des Mouches Blanc at the lowest price around.

This is the sort of wine that you should go deep on and bury in your cellar. Clos des Mouches' reputation for aging is awe-inspiring. Allen Meadows has written recently about being floored by both the 1945 and 1949 Drouhin Clos des Mouches Blanc.

Clos des Mouches was one of the first vineyards purchased by Joseph Drouhin in the 19th century. Time has revealed this to be a brilliant move. Clos des Mouches is a star of Drouhin's vast portfolio - right there with Griotte-Chambertin and Musigny.

As Gilman's quote makes clear, the 2010 Clos des Mouches Blanc promises to be one of the best renditions of this epic wine in quite some time.

The 2010 vintage endowed Clos de Mouches Blanc with a special combination of plush richness and acidity ensuring a monumental and long-lived wine.

John Gilman sums up the 2010 white Burgundies as follows: "The finest 2010 whites are a racy and brilliantly transparent lot, with the snap of 2007 or 2008, coupled to greater mid-palate density from the low yields and even better signatures of terroir... "

For those of you looking to delve into world-class white Burgundy without the Grand Cru price tag, or for those obsessed with the Drouhin's cult site, all indications point to this as being a legend in the making. This is not to be missed.
