Along with Pétrus, Cheval Blanc is another great estate of the right bank. Catching a bottle of Cheval firing on all cylinders is one of the great experiences in wine. It boasts an incredible architecture, a seductive texture, and explosive aromatics. All of this is presented with sophistication and class to spare.
The 2000 Bordeaux vintage is one of the best of the past few decades. The wines were brilliant on release and their stature has only grown over time. While still holding plenty in reserve, many wines from the vintage are entering their prime drinking windows, including the Cheval Blanc.
The 2000 Cheval Blanc is an absolutely gorgeous bottle. It has an amazing polished harmony with nearly perfect delineation and gracefulness. The aromatics are seriously complex with beautiful clarity.
