For the past handful of vintages, we've watched quality at Gouges soar. The 2017s are deeply impressive. Nuits seems to have met with a lot of success in the vintage and Gouges really drives this point home.

While the 2017 Vaucrains is endowed with the masculine, savage character that we’ve come to expect from Vaucrains, there’s also plenty of lift and liveliness. The palate is wildly textural, with dark fruits and earth-saturated minerality, giving way to an explosive, lengthy finish. Even with all of its sturdiness and density, there’s an undeniable freshness and pristine clarity.

There’s no doubt that the 2017 Vaucrains has a long future. Gouges is one of the legendary producers of Nuits St. Georges and it's really exciting to see them in top form.
