A Magical Combination
2014 Colin-Morey
St. Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly & Les Créots
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey assumes a dominating presence over St. Aubin.
Colin-Morey doesn't lack in bottles from the grandest sites: Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières, etc. Still, everyone from blue chip collectors to savvy wine geeks flock to his St. Aubins.
It would definitely be a myopic point of view, but you could argue that Colin-Morey's St. Aubins are the definiting wines of the domaine.
Today, we're happy to offer two of our favorites from the 2014 vintage, the 1er Crus En Remilly and Les Créots.
There's an incredible amount of excitement about 2014 White Burgundy. The short story is that many people think that it will go down as a great vintage. The wines have density, verve and harmony. It's a pretty magical combination.
En Remilly has long been singled out as the top 1er Cru of St. Aubin. It delivers a punch and depth that stands out. Les Créots is a 1er Cru that has a much lower profile, but in 2014 it reached its apogee. The site produces wines of richness, but with surprising verve and delicacy. Les Créots melded with the 2014 vintage in a profound way. It's by far the best edition of the wine that we've tasted.
Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has quickly become one of the most exciting White Burgundy producers. No one manages to combine intensity and purity to a similar degree. The 2014s capture this in a particularly emphatic way. Colin-Morey always sells out quickly. Give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
