A Perennial Overachiever:
2018 Tribut Chablis

Posted by Ian McFadden

When it comes to classic Chablis AC, Tribut is one of the most important names to know.

Tribut's Chablis is, without a doubt, one of the best village level wines in the region.

Tribut's Chablis possesses a combination of intensity and refined mineral grip that's rare at its level.

The 2018 is a powerful example of the wine - deep, saturating, and mineral. It's a really exciting wine.

As many of you know, the 2018 vintage is on the riper side of the spectrum. Just as in 2015, another warm year, Tribut turned out a really impressive collection and a seriously overachieving Chablis AC.

Generally speaking, Tribut's Chablis are unyieldingly classical and have always remained so even in warmer vintages. Even still, with a piling up of warm vintages recently, it's been fascinating to watch how quickly winemakers have learned to adjust to the new climatic conditions to produce clear and snappy wines in warm years. Tribut's 2018s compellingly illustrate this.

The 2018 Chablis announces Chablis' unique minerality loudly. It's very detailed and has a clear fruit profile. The wine offers lots of presence and classy length. In the past, we've made a lot out of the Dauvissat connection (the now retired Laurent Tribut is Vincent Dauvissat's brother-in-law), and here you definitely sense the kinship. The sea breeze quality, as Burghound points out, introduces a beautiful lift to the wine.

As many of you know, Tribut's wines have a huge following, and there's never a lot of wine around. I suggest that you stock up.
