Produttori's 2016 collection is breathtaking and is easily on the very short list of the best that they've ever produced.
This isn't surprising given the overall quality of the 2016 Piedmonts. It is a stunning vintage delivering dangerously close to everything that you could want - concentration, clarity, elegance, and a cool transparency.
Produttori's 2016 Ovello is a gorgeous representation of the vintage. There's an incredible amount of drive and finesse. The undercurrent of nervy and stony minerality creates a perfect backdrop to set off the soaring notes of red fruits, herbs, and spice.
There's not much to say. Ovello is a high point of a great collection. This is a don't miss 2016 Barbaresco.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2016 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is the most severe and angular of these wines. It will appeal most to die-hard classicists. Chalk, white pepper, mint and sweet red cherry fruit all grace this chiseled, beautifully translucent Barbaresco. As always, the Ovello needs a number of years in bottle to reveal its charms, which in 2016 are many. It is a positively stellar wine in every way."
