2011 Canonica Barolo Paiagallo

"A real knockout... Readers who can find the 2011 should not hesitate, as it is terrific." -Antonio Galloni

Canonica nailed the 2011 vintage. It's painful for me to write this, because Canonica's Barolo is so rare.

Canonica's holdings are tiny and the people who are familiar with the wines hunt them down. The result is that they quickly disappear. Currently, there are just two other listings in the market and quantities are meager.

Canonica follows super-traditional methods—minimal sulfur, foot-pressed grapes, indigenous yeasts, and aging in old oak "botte." Even the labels are applied by hand. The result is a beautifully pure and profoundly soulful Nebbiolo.

We tasted the 2011 Canonica recently and were blown away. The aromatics were incredibly complicated and the whole package was amazingly poised and finely balanced. The harmony and spectrum of complexity make this one of the absolute stand outs.

I'm going to cut this short since I anticipate a quick sellout. I'm very happy to be able to offer. Please give us your ideal order and we'll try our best.
