A Master Meets the Perfect Vintage

"Outstanding" - A Small Parcel

"They are a stellar group of pure, sappy and transparent 2010s " -John Gilman

Fourrier's 2010s represent a perfect marriage between producer and vintage.

It's hard to imagine a better synching up than Fourrier's precise and pure style with the ultra-pristine signature of 2010.

On paper, Fourrier's Gevrey is a basic village wine, but in reality it's anything but basic. Like the village wines from Roumier and Coche-Dury, Fourrier is so skilled, so exacting, that his village Gevrey transcends the category by a long shot, especially in a great vintage like 2010.

Burghound's note clues you in that Fourrier's Gevrey is dead serious when he writes, it's "built to age." He goes on to place it in the "outstanding" category.

Fourrier's wines have blown up in recent vintages. They are among the most talked about, hardest-to-find Burgs out there. You'll find them on the buy list of blue chip collectors every vintage.

For the 2010 vintage, availability is going to be a big issue. Fourrier's cult status continues to gain steam and his yields were 40% below normal. You're advised to jump on this now.

Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family's domaine in 1994, after working under Henri Jayer. While the estate was always good, the landholdings always great, it was Jean-Marie’s winemaking that brought the estate into Burgundy’s big league.

Fourrier's style is precise and pure, full of aromatic, mineral-laden fruits that seem to have been pulverized into a beautifully fine texture. There's a sense of flamboyance and gloss to the wines, but there's plenty of substance behind the style - the wines have transparent, firm spines and whip-smart tension that brings a serious cut to the backend.

There's not much more to be said. Fourrier is a master, and there's never much to be had, especially in a vintage like 2010 where the wines are great and the quantities painful.
