Le Mesnil is holy ground for Chardonnay, and Chétillons is one of the choicest parcels in all of Mesnil.

This made Chétillons one of the cult bottlings of Champagne. With perhaps the exception of Jacques Selosse, Pierre Peters is the Champagne that industry people talk about the most and in the most reverential terms. Chétillons plays an outsized role in Peters' status.

Chétillons is a renowned, very chalky vineyard. Peters' oldest vines in the site are nearly 70 years old, and the youngest are 35 years old. The old vines endow it with serious concentration. Generally speaking, what makes Chétillons so stunning is how it takes Mesnil's chalky steeliness and energy and adds a layer of ripe citrus and more palate presence.

We've consistently been impressed by the 2018 Champagnes. The vintage produced Champagnes with beautiful balance and textures. They are clear and concentrated.

The 2018 Chétillons is extraordinary. It's a champagne of riveting clarity and incredible length and finesse. There's a radiance to this vintage that is jaw-dropping. Galloni calls the 2018 "An archetype for Mesnil." That makes total sense to me.

Simply put: This is some of the most beautiful Chardonnay in the world. Sadly, there's very little to go around.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2018 Brut Cuvée Spéciale Les Chétillons is a super-classic Peters Champagne. Bright and beautifully sculpted in the glass, the 2018 sizzles with tension. Lemon peel, chalk, mint, dried flowers, sage and oyster shell are some of the many notes that emerge over time. I especially admire the energy here. An archetype for Mesnil."
