Cappellano produces legendary, absolutely compelling old-school Barolos.
In terms of longevity, Cappellano's Barolos boast a structure that can keep stride with the great distance runners of Piedmont, such as Conterno's Monfortino and Giacosa's Red Label.

Pie Rupestris comes from the Gabutti vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba. The area is known for producing powerful and intense Barolos. The signature of Cappellano's Rupestris is certainly its muscle, but that's only half of the story.
Beyond all else, Rupestris is profoundly soulful with an elusive depth of earth, mushrooms, stones, and bruised herbs. For all of its brawn, it's the layers of flowers, dark fruit, and soil that define Rupestris.
The 2021 is a stunning example of the wine. It flaunts all the complicated nuances that the bottle is capable of. There's an intricate and finely tuned structure that promises that it will age magnificently.
As always with this wine, I should warn you that quantities are modest. It's very likely that we'll have to allocate.
