The wines of Ulysse Collin are individual and intense, working on a grandness of scale that can nearly overwhelm the senses. The total package is a shocking expression of greatness.

We have just begun offering Collin's 2021s, and it's a vintage that we're really excited about. Across the board, they are energetic and finely etched wines with a beguiling radiant quality. 

With that said, this is a special vintage for Maillons. In any vintage, Maillons represents the extreme conclusion of Collin's style. There's a multidimensional complexity that seems to hit you from every angle. It's a big and insanely powerful champagne. As Kristaps Karklins' note above makes clear, the 2021 adds a lovely nimble cut to this signature. 

Les Maillons is sourced from 45-year-old Pinot vines on chalk and heavy clay soil. The Maillons has become captivating in recent vintages. For all of its expansive power, the wine is shockingly delineated and clear, which becomes blatantly clear in the 2021 vintage. 

Before taking over his family's vineyards, Collin spent time working under Anselme Selosse, which heavily influenced his winemaking style. For the Les Maillons, Collin harvests the Pinot Noir grapes uncommonly ripe, resulting in a wine of kaleidoscopic complexity and serious drive.

Collin makes some of the most breathtakingly unique wines in all of Champagne. The 2021 Maillons is a monument to the incredibly compelling nature of Collin's wines.

Kristaps Karklins, The Wine Advocate: "Disgorged in February 2026 with a dosage of 2.4 grams per liter, the NV Blanc de Noirs Les Maillons (2021 base) incorporates fully 40% reserve wines from 2020 and 2019. It wafts from the glass with aromas of mirabelle plum, apricot and crushed flint, mingled with nuances of rooibos. Full-bodied, elegantly muscular and enveloping, the palate is built around a concentrated core of fruit, animated by lively acidity and a pinpoint mousse. Less demonstrative than the few releases that preceded it, this is nevertheless among the most chiseled and incisively fresh renditions of Les Maillons produced in recent years. As ever, Les Maillons was the first site Olivier Collin harvested, and 2021 was no exception, with picking commencing in mid-September. It will richly reward additional time under cork, gaining further depth post disgorgement."
