2008 Agrapart Minéral Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru
Vintage of the Decade, the Master of the Cote des Blancs

Agrapart's Minéral Blanc de Blancs always stuns.

Pascal and Fabrice Agrapart are masters of terroir. Across the range, the expression of Chardonnay is riveting, deeply mineral, and staggeringly composed.

Agrapart has become an obsession of ours. And you need to be a bit obsessed to gather any quantities of these wines. They always seem to be in short supply.

But Agrapart's 2008s are especially noteworthy. By all accounts, the 2008 vintage will go down (along with 2002) as the best of the decade. It's a high tension and pristine vintage with plenty of structure and, most important of all, balance.

The Minéral is one of the most captivating of the line-up. It's sourced from two prime selections from 40-year-old vines on the hard, white chalk in Avize and Cramant. This cuvée lives up to its name, bursting with gripping minerality with a laser-like focus.

Agrapart's are some of the most refined Chardonnays to be found in the Côte des Blancs. For all their class and impeccable breeding, they also come across as undeniably honest expressions of terroir.

Unsurprisingly, the 2008 Minéral flaunts all of these hallmarks. There's a creamy mouthfeel against tensile minerality—an interplay of the melodic and the razor sharp—that is precisely what makes this wine so exciting. As Antonio Galloni puts it, "this wine is all about texture."

2008 is one of the finest vintages of the century so far. Agrapart's are some of the finest Champagnes year after year. That combination is everything we could hope it to be.
