That's Bachelet for you; he's a perfectionist. Everything he releases from his meticulously cared for 4-hectare estate is structured to age and just incredibly well put together. Bachelet is one the Burgundy producers we can't get enough of.
The 2009 vintage offers a very telling glimpse at just how acute Bachelet's skills are. He was able to take the power and ripeness of the vintage and harness it to make wines that have incredible intensity, but also finely calibrated balance and detail.
This is an important vintage for Bachelet. Burghound sums it up simply and accurately: "Bachelet '09s are among the best that I have ever seen from him…"
In short, everything indicates that Bachelet's 2009 Gevrey will go into the books as one of the finest examples of this overachieving wine.
There aren't any secrets to the quality of Bachelet's Gevrey - he works with 60-70 year old vines, he keeps yields low and is hyper-attentive.
This is what makes Bachelet some of the most sought-after Burgundies out there. Bachelet is one of those producers whose entire (and meager) output is aggressively collected - across the board.
