An Aristocratic Blockbuster
2012 San Guido Sassicaia

Since its first vintage in 1968, Sassicaia has spawned a large cast of imitators. Still, no one can match Sassicaia's breed, refinement and class.

2012 is a blockbuster edition of Sassicaia. It's the total package with saturating intensity and aristocratic stature. The wine assumes a breathtaking scale, delivering dark fruits, spice, cedar and other savory dimensions. This is simply a monumental edition of this wine.

Sassicaia was originally created by the Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, a Francophile aristocrat in Tuscany. He was passionate about wine and recognized that his home had a stony soil (indeed, sasso means "stone" in the local dialect) that was similar to the area in Bordeaux where his favorite wines came from. He planted Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and began making wine for himself. At first, it was just for private consumption, but in 1968 the first Sassicaia was released to the public, and a revolution was born in the land of Sangiovese.

Sassicaia has essentially become Italy's "First Growth." As Sassicaia ages, it becomes beautifully regal with haunting aromatics and finesse. Based on the 2012's concentration and harmony we predict an impressive life in the cellar.
