Is this Lauer's most dramatic, most soaring wine?
This bottling, more than any of Lauer's other off-dry Grand Crus, seems to have garnered a unique, cult-like status.
In 2022, the wine is even finer, leaner, more gossamer, and quivering than ever. If the wines of 2021 are monuments, rocket ships that thunder forward, the top wines of 2022 are arrows: razor-sharp, incisive, and soaring.
Today, we offer this gem of the Lauer portfolio, for the you-have-to-try-this-wine price of $43.95 on the 4-pack - by far the lowest price in the country.
If Florian Lauer is one of the most versatile winemakers in the Saar, with an almost incomprehensible breadth of offerings, his Stirn bottling stands alone. The wine flaunts, year after year, an unforgettable sense of balance.
The 2022 Stirn has a finesse and delicacy most similar perhaps to his legendary 2017 bottling, which makes very little sense as the two vintages were quite different. Yet the wines share a similar fine-ness, there is no doubt.
Lauer's 2022 Stirn has everything: flavor and intensity, and also a featherweight finesse. This is what makes it, year after year, one of our favorite wines from Lauer.
