For Burgundy lovers, Lafon's new vineyard is huge news. Dominique Lafon is one of the great winemakers of the Côte d’Or. The past five vintages have placed Lafon firmly among the best - Coche-Dury, Roulot, etc.
This is Burgundy which translates to there never being enough of the stunning wines that Lafon turns out.

And with top producers like Lafon it often seems that there will never be relief from this. Finding land in top Grand and 1er Crus is very rare, so availability is more or less static. Today, we present a rare exception.
Dominique Lafon, along with Jean-Marc Roulot, has started leasing top Meursault vineyards that were previously owned by Domaine Manuel. (Please see Bobby's Wine of the Year for info on Roulot's release.) This is some of the most exciting news from Burgundy in a long time.
As far as debut vintages go, 2010 is close to ideal - it's one of the most pristine and riveting vintages in some time. The 2010 whites are beautifully clear, jam-packed with minerals and verve while maintaining an impressive palate presence.
Lafon is particularly excited about the year, saying, "I love this vintage as it's fresh, clean and super vibrant and perhaps best of all, it has almost unmatched transparency to the underlying terroir."
The 1er Cru Porusots is an East-facing vineyard with deep clay soils. The site produces lavish and layered wines. Lafon's 2010 1er Cru Porusots takes this and adds a sleekness and a bright energy that endows the wine with a sense of clarity. In sum, you have a complex richness that's beautifully complemented by currents of citrus and a firm streak of minerality.
For the debut vintage 2010s, Lafon selected the best barrels of 1er Cru Poruzots from Domaine Manuel, finished the élevage and bottled just 168 cases.
As Gilman mentioned above, Lafon's 1er Cru Porusots will become an important wine for the region. Lafon fans are well aware that scarcity will inevitably follow. It's best to get on this wine now before things start getting ugly.
