In 2018, Adam turned out one of his most impressive collections of the past decade.
They represent one of the high notes of the 2018 vintage.
You would be hard-pressed to find a set of wines that possess as much verve and finely etched minerality.
In der Sängerei is a small, warmer old-vine vineyard, a dimple near the top of the Hofberg. Because it's a warmer site, Adam vinifies the site as a feinherb (off-dry) wine. The 2018 has 20 grams of residual sugar.
It's been over three years since we've offered In der Sängerei. The 2018 is easily among the best examples of the wine that we've tasted.
The estate may have turned out the most individual collection of the vintage. We agree with Jean Fisch & David Rayer of Mosel Fine Wines when they sum up their 2018 as: "Completely defying the general ripe nature and mild acidity of the vintage, the siblings produced some amazing wines which remind us more of 2002 or 2004 than 2018!"
The 2018 In der Sängerei exemplifies the focus, drive, and blazing mineral clarity that they achieved in the vintage. It's always one of our favorite bottles from Adam, but this is clearly a special vintage for the wine.
Just over a decade ago, Andreas Adam burst on to the scene as a young star. For many of us, the wines were revelations. It's really exciting to see the wines in top form.
