"A deep, vibrant, old-school Barbaresco" - Antonio Galloni

The 2016 Piedmont wines are incredibly impressive. Since last fall, I've been tasting them extensively.

Without a doubt, Giordano represents one of the great finds of the vintage. At as low as $29.95, it offers unparalleled value.

The style at Giordano is rugged, personality-filled, and very classic. They are soulful wines brimming with a slightly wild and totally captivating complexity. The fact that Giordano has holdings in some of Barbaresco's top sites, including Montestefano and Asili, only makes this domaine more exciting.

Their 2016s blew me away when I tasted them. Factoring in price, fascination, and quality, the Cavanna jumped out as the one. The 2016 Piedmonts are a dream brew of concentration, a cool-toned profile, and gorgeous balance. We've been tasting Giordano for the past handful of years and it's clear that 2016 catapulted the wines to a whole other level.

The 2016 Cavanna explodes from the glass with clear red fruits, floral notes, and spice. There's plenty of punch and it has character to spare. Expect a real deal traditional Barbaresco, but in 2016 the grippy tannins are cushioned by the vintage's layer of pure and bright fruit making it accessible for drinking now.

Finding Barbaresco that delivers this much honesty and quality for the money is very rare. I advise you to stock up. Opportunities like this are almost unheard of and don't stick around for long.

Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media: "The 2016 Barbaresco Cavanna is bold, punchy and full of character. I suppose technically, the Cavanna is a bit rustic, but there is just so much personality in the glass that I am willing to look past some of the more angular contours. Readers will find a deep, vibrant, old-school Barbaresco that offers a good bit of intensity as well as brawn. A burst of red berry fruit, iron, cedar, smoke and anise punctuates the substantial, super-expressive finish."
