There's no doubt that 2010 is a high-watermark for the wine. Simply put, a lot of momentum met up with a killer vintage. The 2010 Langhe Rosso is easily one of the most impressive editions of the wine that we've tasted.
The 2010 vintage elevated the Langhe to a shocking level of elegance, transparency and depth. It offers up layers of vivid dark fruits, florals, game and spice, with great length and grip on the finish. The combination of energy and precision while boasting plenty of complexity and concentration is really stunning. This is the brilliance of 2010 in the Piedmont.
Roagna treats his Langhe Rosso with a level of seriousness and care that’s rare for the category. The wine sees a month long maceration followed by several years in oak casks and a year in bottle. The grapes come from Cascina Pira in Castiglione Falletto in Barolo and Pajé in Barbaresco, two highly coveted sites. Any vines in these sites under 20 years old go into the Langhe Rosso.
The 2010 Langhe Rosso is one of the best values in traditional Piedmont winemaking that you'll find. Equally important, few bottles overdeliver at this price point like Roagna's Langhe does. We advise you to stock up.
