As always, Jamet's 2017 Collines Rhodaniennes is one of the smartest northern Rhône buys you can make.
This wine comes from Collines Rhodaniennes, an IGP designation for vines grown around Côte-Rôtie, but Jamet's bottling also includes young Côte-Rôtie fruit. And when you factor in Jamet’s high caliber winemaking, you end up with a bottle that seriously outperforms.
Jamet’s wines are known for profound elegance and ageability, but the Collines Rhodaniennes offers immediate pleasure while still maintaining the soulful quality we love. This is a wine that the entire staff drinks with abandon. Having said that, this is a bottle that ages well in the midterm. The 2010 still has plenty of life in it.
The 2017 Collines Rhodaniennes is wonderfully extroverted. There’s lots of lush red fruits, spice, and earth. The addition of Côte-Rôtie fruit gives the wine subtle complexity and structure. This is a downright charming vintage that is seriously gulpable.
Jamet has long been a benchmark producer of the northern Rhone and every year Collines Rhodaniennes is one of our most popular Rhône offers. The finesse, value and deliciousness it offers is unmatched.
