Back-Vintage Clape: 1999 Clape Cornas

Posted by Ian McFadden

This offer marks the end of a parcel of back-vintage Clape that I recently picked up.

I was really excited to have landed these wines. Clape with age is stunning, and the parcel included great vintages - 98, 99, and 01.

Out of the three, the 1999 works on a grandness of scale that makes it unique. Clape is defined by its jet-black minerality, muscle, and sheer density. The 1999 stands as one of the most compelling examples of this style.

The architecture of the 1999 is simply epic. The 1999 Cornas hits that rare equation of power, clarity, and a blatant terroir impression. For all of its intensity, there is still a class and polish to the wine.

The 1999 is obviously built for the long-haul. The balance and gripping intensity makes this very clear. I expect it to evolve into a magical weave of refinement, nuanced depth, and stone minerality. Please give us your ideal order, and we'll try our best.
