Last week's 2001 La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904 offer blew up.
It's clear that 2001 in Rioja is a special vintage. The only comparison that people in the region can make is with the epic 1964.
With old school producers, like La Rioja Alta, wines from the vintage will age incredibly well, becoming hauntingly complex and elegant.
This is why buying mags is a very good move.
Wine just ages better and longer in magnums -- and in vintages like 2001.
