Egon Müller makes some of the most riveting wines on the planet.
Of course, this is not news to any of you. We'll keep this brief.
There's no expression of Riesling quite like Müller's Scharzhofberger. It offers intensity without weight; a steely nobility that's breathtaking.
2018 is certainly a richer vintage, but the breeding and nervy core of Scharzhofberger really shines through. In the Spätlese, you have a perfectly calibrated tension between power and verve. When you taste Müller from riper vintages, like 1990 and 1997, it becomes clear how successful the wines are in warm years. The 2018 vintage definitely provides further evidence.
Müller’s Rieslings are profound and singular. I'm happy to be able to offer the 2018 Spätlese at the lowest price around. Please be warned that quantities are limited.

Mosel Fine Wines, Jean Fisch & David Rayer: "The 2018er Scharzhofberger Spätlese was fermented down to sweet levels of residual sugar (92 g/l). It delivers a quite rich spectrum of ripe fruits including mango, pineapple, almond cream, yellow peach, candied grapefruit and pear on the nose. The wine proves beautifully playful on the palate, where ripe flavors of fruits are well wrapped into creamy spices, minty herbs and smoke and leaves a quite opulent and almost forceful feel of creamy and exotic fruits in the impressively long finish."
