All hyperbole and flowery prose aside, Baudry's 2010 Croix Boissée is just a lovely wine.
Croix Boissée is Baudry's top bottling. It always stands out for its refinement and age-worthiness.
The 2010 is beautiful in its combination of purity, precision and finely tuned balance. I can't remember a young Baudry that I've been this excited about.
And this is saying a lot; Baudry is one of my favorite producers. I never hesitate to buy every vintage in quantity. And even though there is an amazing consistency to the wines, the 2010 stands out. This is killer.

When it comes to building a cellar on a budget, Baudry's Croix Boissée is one of the first wines that I reach for. At $37.95 on bottles and $34.95 per bottle on 4-packs, the value is huge.
In 2010, Croix Boissée is a "don't miss" wine. The way it combines elegance, completeness and lift, it takes the wine to a new level.
La Croix Boissée is sourced from a hillside with limestone and clay soils on a chalk base. In Chinon, this terroir is home to the appellation's longest-lived wines. Vintages like 2010 can easily embrace their twentieth birthday.
For the greatest expressions of Cabernet Franc in the Loire, the list is short: Clos Rougeard and Baudry (Jérome Lenoir deserves mention as well). It's worth noting that Baudry's Croix Boissée costs roughly half that of Rougeard's entry-level Clos.
In her seminal A Wine and Food Guide to the Loire, Jacqueline Friedrich writes, "Chinon has no more conscientious winemaker than Baudry." This may be even truer today than it was back in 1996 when Friedrich wrote it.
Baudry's wines come across with an exacting detail and pristine clarity and yet, speak deeply with a soulfulness and honesty.
There's not much so we'll keep it short: Baudry has a loyal following and the 2010 is stunning and very much recommended.
