If Enderle & Moll are most famous for their Pinot Noirs, the white wines have quietly become cult favorites.
This bottle occupies a curious place. On the one hand, it is a wine-geek favorite, one of those culty steals snapped up by those in the know, vintage after vintage.
On the other hand, it is a profound value, a "gateway" skin-contact wine to explore the potential of these complex and delicious wines.
It turns out that Germany, being so cool-climate, makes some of the most energized, nervy and transparent skin-contact whites in the world.
The best of these wines offer the fascinating aromatic complexity of sea air, citrus skin, wild flowers, along with a really nuanced and wide mineral expression. They tend to be a bit richer on the palate and have a delicate tannic grip.
Enderle & Moll's "Weiss & Grau," offers one more dimension: electricity. It is the lift here, the freshness that brings you back and back. It also makes it a wildly versatile friend at the dinner table.
The "Weiss & Grau" is a field-blend mix, roughly half and half Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris). The grapes are brought in and stomped on, and then spend about one week on the skins, macerating, before the juice is pressed and moved into one large, solitary 2,500-liter barrel.
The entire production is about 270 cases. This means don't delay. Give us your maximum order and we will allocate accordingly.
