PYCM's Abbaye de Morgeot Clement et Emma has become one of our most popular white Burgundy offerings.
It's unsurprising for a number of reasons. Pierre-Yves Colin is one of the masters of white Burgundy; he's right up there with Roulot and Coche. He also has a magic touch with Chassagne, and the Abbaye de Morgeot Clement et Emma is a prime place to witness it.
The wine is so compelling that Crush managing partner, Robert Schagrin, named the 2017 Clement et Emma his 2019 wine of the year.
I'm very happy to offer the 2018 Chassagne 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot Cuvée Clement et Emma sharply priced at $139.95 per bottle.
Colin-Morey's 2018s are seriously impressive. The wines hit an incredible balance. They have clear fruit, intense minerality, and perfectly integrated richness. Pierre-Yves has said that he's learned a lot from previous warm vintages and has fine-tuned harvest times along with how he handles the grapes in the winery. The 2018s testify to how well-judged his strategy was.
The 2018 Clement et Emma is very clear, sleek, and concentrated. The combination is really impressive. It flaunts verve, power, length, and elegance in a very dazzling way. You get soaring notes of citrus oil, white flowers, and stone fruits.
There's no doubt that Pierre-Yves Colin is making some of the most compelling white Burgundies around. The 2018 Clement et Emma drives home just how careful and thoughtful the winemaking is here. The wine is a startling success.
