2005 Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Taillepieds

Even in the context of 2005, d'Angerville produced an amazing cast of wines.

"All I could do was to shake my head in admiration... The purity, depth of material and transparency of these '05s to the underlying terroir are nothing short of brilliant," writes Burghound.

I couldn't agree more. I jumped on this parcel of 2005 Taillepieds when it came across my desk.

I'm happy to offer d'Angerville's 2005 Taillepieds for $195.95 per bottle.

The 2005 vintage in Burgundy hardly needs an introduction. Ten years on, it seems poised to be the longest lived vintage in a really, really long time. Many Bourgogne Rouge are still showing young and vibrant. It's a vintage that has it all - power, structure and clarity.

Taillepieds really shined in 2005. Taillepieds is all racy and full of stony minerality. It delivers an intense mineral streak, tremendous energy and gorgeous aromatics. There's little question that the 2005 will age profoundly well.

This is definitely an offer that I don't feel a need to belabor. Taillepieds is one of d'Angerville's top wines and a personal favorite. This is a great opportunity to back-fill on a great wine from a very special vintage.

Burghound: "A strikingly pure nose of cassis, violets and blueberries gracefully gives way to rich, full, sweet and mineral-infused middle weight flavors that have cut-like-a-knife delineation as well as a very firm tannic spine that will also see this through well past its 25th birthday. While the Champans presently has a bit more flesh around the structure, this is a classic Taillepieds built on its minerality and is best cellared by those blessed with ample patience as this is the most backward wine in the range today."
