Bullet-Proof Value
2013 Chevillon Nuits St. Georges VV

I never miss an opportunity to buy or write an offer on Chevillon.

For me, Chevillon has a place alongside iconic producers like d'Angerville, Lafarge, Mugneret-Gibourg, etc. To be frank, it took me a few years in the business to get how amazing Chevillon can be.

No doubt a few profoundly enjoyable old bottles sealed the deal. What really makes Chevillon stand out is the wine's bulletproof consistency and honest, ageworthy style.

The value that Chevillon offers can't be denied either. The Nuits St. Georges VV always overdelivers in a big way. It's a very impressive Burgundy for the money.

At Chevillon, the emphasis is on old vines and old fashioned winemaking. The result is absolutely reference point Nuits St. Georges. Andrew Jefford puts it simply: "If the style of NSG (bright, bold, fiery fruit) appeals, then this is the first name to remember: Robert Chevillon."

Chevillon's 2013s are incredibly pure and classic. The Nuits St. Georges VV presents Nuits' dark, earthy minerality with great clarity. The 2013 Nuits VV has the intensity and muscle that we've come to expect from this bottling, but there's a verve and brightness that's special.

I frequently find myself in awe of Chevillon. There's a rigor and subtlety to the wines that feels completely unique. I'm very happy to offer this today.
