Carillon has become one of my favorite producers of white Burgundy.
The wines of Jacques Carillon may keep a lower profile than some others in Burgundy, but they are no joke. You'd be hard-pressed to find Burgundies as carefully crafted as Carillon's.
I can remember in my early days of wine I would look at collector's cellars and see Carillon's wines rubbing shoulders with luminaries like Coche, Roulot, Ramonet, etc. It was clear right away that something was up with this producer.
Carillon's wines are expertly composed with sleek minerality and a beautiful combination of honesty and elegance. It all adds up to an extremely compelling expression of white Burgundy.
We have a particular soft spot for Carillon's Puligny Villages. Regardless of the vintage, the Puligny serves as a perfect summary of Carillon's style and seriously overachieves for the category.
With its signature of edgy finesse, the 2020 provided a perfect stage for the Puligny Villages. The wine has a beautifully textured weave of minerality, floral notes, and ripe citrus. It's amazing how the wine has such rounded power and lifted verve.
Carillon has been a store favorite since day one. Recently, the Puligny has become much harder to find in quantity. I'll close by warning you that this is a very modest parcel. If interested, we advise you to get your orders in early.

Burghound: "The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Village mingles aromas of citrus oil with hints of nutmeg, white flowers and almonds. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and saline, with tangy acids and a pretty core of fruit, it concludes with promising length. It's the finest rendition of this cuvée since 2017."
