Burgundy Royalty:
2022 Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet: 1er Cru Clos du Caillerets & 1er Cru Les Ruchottes

Posted by Ian McFadden

Ramonet is one of the time-tested greats of white Burgundy.

Catch a Ramonet in top form, which is usually the case, and you'll find a case study in tension and intensity.

We were reminded of this a week ago when we drank a dazzling bottle of 2010 Bâtard-Montrachet.

Today, I'm happy to offer 2022 Ramonet Chassagne 1er Cru Clos du Caillerets and 1er Cru Les Ruchottes.

The debut vintage of Clos du Caillerets was the 2014 vintage. Ramonet makes both Les Caillerets and Clos du Caillerets. Clos du Caillerets is a walled vineyard within the Vigne Derriére subsection of the 1er Cru. The Clos du Caillerets immediately stood out with its blazing energy, serious length, and sleek refinement. The 2022 boasts the wine's signature laser focus and supreme elegance. It offers up loads of stony minerality, citrus, and floral notes.

Ramonet's Ruchottes overachieves to such an extent that it can compete with many Grand Crus. Ruchottes is dense and tactile, with a sleek, chiseled minerality and a soaring tension that is Ramonet's signature. The 2022 Ruchottes has an amazing radiance and harmony. It all adds up to an amazing edition of Ruchottes.

Both of these wines show one of Burgundy's greats in top form. There's not much more that needs to be said.
