Clos des Mouches has an incredible track record in riper vintages like 1985, 1990 and 2009.
The 2015 Clos des Mouches follows in the footsteps of these great vintages for the wine. Here you have Mouches' signature aristocratic breeding and diamond cut on full display.
Drouhin's Clos des Mouches was on my "must buy" list for 2015.
I've been hunting down the wine since day one and jumping on every opportunity to buy it. Regardless of the vintage, Mouches always overachieves, but in 2015 it reaches a whole other level.
There's no doubt that the 2015 Mouches will be a legend. 2015 is one of the great red Burgundy vintages of the past three decades. It's an incredibly complete vintage. There's serious concentration, but with refined tannins and a staggering amount of freshness and elegance for such a ripe vintage.
The 2015 Mouches has a penetrating minerality and remarkable lift and energy. Often the greatness of Mouches comes down to its texture and understated noble flair. The 2015 flaunts these qualities. There's a soaring complexity and driving length.
Clos des Mouches is one of the great gems in Drouhin's stable and a personal favorite of the Crush team. It delivers the force of Beaune with a crystalline elegance and silken, suave texture. It was one of the first sites that Joseph Drouhin bought in the 1920s, situated in a choice mid-slope location - right against Beaune’s border with Pommard. The combination of old vines and limestone soil lends the wine a firm mineral spine and striking finesse.
Drouhin's Clos des Mouches is one of Burgundy's little secrets. I’ve been at many dinners where an old bottle of Clos des Mouches has outshined many of the Grand Crus at the table. As I mentioned before, the 2015 Clos des Mouches is destined to be included with the greats.
